PCI COORDINATOR

PCI COORDINATOR

My name is Allison Castro and I am the Parent and Community Involvement Coordinator at Doña Merced Elementary. We have one of the most active volunteer programs in the Central School District. We have many volunteer opportunities for businesses, the community, parents and extended family.

  • In the classroom you can provide valuable assistance with individual and small group instruction.

  • You can donate individually or through Business Partners to help buy needed classroom equipment or supplies.

  • You can join our PTA organization and volunteer on various committees.

In whatever capacity you choose to volunteer, you can be assured that your contribution is needed and valued. Quality is much more important than quantity. That’s why even volunteering occasionally can make a difference.

We believe and support the following information provided by the Office of Educational Research and Improvement, U.S. Department of Education:

The participation of all parents, including those with limited knowledge of English, is important to the academic achievement of our children.  Such participation has many positive consequences for the family, the school, and especially for the student:

  • The family has the chance to understand the school system better.

  • The teachers can understand students who come from other cultures more easily.

  • The school can become the natural extension of the home, aiding in the preservation of families’ culture and values.

If you have any questions, please stop by my desk.  I am on campus from 8:30 am until 12:00 pm.  You can also call me at the school (909) 980-1600 or by email Allison Castro.

The Volunteer

-Margaret A. Francis-

The Volunteer is one with a heart so sincere.

No task too large, no task too small,

Who will help with anything at all.

Who will be there in the morning light,

Or help in the dark of night.

The Volunteer, our extra hand,

On whose future our children stand.

Never anyone so dear

as a Doña Volunteer!

SAFETY FIRST

In an effort to provide a safe environment for all students, all visitors  at Doña Merced must provide current identification before entering campus. I.D's will be scanned through Lobby Guard at the front desk each day upon arrival. A name tag will be issued and must be worn at all times while on campus. All visitors must enter and exit through the front office.
