CENTRAL ELEMENTARY LIBRARY AND TECHNOLOGY CENTER

"Reading is a passport to countless adventures."

Mary Pope Osborne

LIBRARY MISSION STATEMENT:

The library exists to encourage learning, not just in the present, but throughout a lifetime. The library helps to cultivate a love of reading, books, curiosity, and sets up foundational academic skills that will contribute to a student’s success by fostering creative collaboration in an inclusive, fun, and supportive environment. Libraries are for everyone.

LIBRARY INFO:

Students visit the library weekly with their class, and students also have access to the library at various points during the day- before and after school, and during morning recess. The library is organized according to AR (Accelerated Reader) Level, which is noted and color coded on fiction books.  Non-fiction books, however, are organized according to Dewey Decimal Classification (organized by subject) and may not have an AR level. Students are free at any time to request assistance navigating this system. Parents and guardians are also welcome to come in, browse and check out under their students, but must organize this with the Librarian, and check in with the Front Office. Please be sure to bring a valid ID when checking into the school.
