WHAT IS A SCHOOL COUNSELOR?

Hi Coyote Families,

This is Mrs. Buyco and Mrs. Saenz, your school counselors.  Our role as school counselors is to help students address academic, personal, and social concerns as well as helps to promote a college and career environment. In addition, a school counselor helps assist students and families improve parent/child communication. 

School Counseling Services Provided:

  • Individual Counseling

  • Group Counseling

  • Classroom Guidance Lessons

  • Parent/Teacher Collaboration & Support

  • Community Resource Referrals

  • Crisis Intervention

School Counselors can assist students:

  • Adjust to a new school

  • Manage their feelings

  • Make / Keep friends

  • Set goals for college/career

  • Promote an atmosphere of kindness

  • To be assertive

  • Increase attendance

  • Develop healthy relationships

  • Develop positive self-esteem

It was an exciting day as over 30 presenters attended our college and career day event!! We were able to bring back our Careers on Wheels since this was our first in-person event since 2020. We want to thank the many parents, community members, our SRO, and our local Rancho Cucamonga Fire Department who joined us to share their time, talents, and expertise! Your time was valued and very much appreciated!!

For the 9th year in a row, our students took part in The Great Kindness Challenge. This is a week-long event held at the end of January that promotes kindness and positivity.

  • Don’t forget that every Monday is College T-shirt Day.  Students can wear their favorite college t-shirt.

Attendance

  • We appreciate our families support in communicating with us when your child is sick. For the safety of all students and staff, if your child is sick, please have them stay home. We will be glad to see them back when they are feeling better!

  • September is Attendance Awareness Month September is Attendance Awareness Month which focuses on ways to help remove barriers to chronic attendance. Please click here attendanceworks.org for informational in how we can work together to help get your child get to school when they are healthy.
