Last week, Central School District's food services and maintenance departments, in conjunction with local churches and Inland Harvest, successfully provided produce and school meals to 1,200 families and 4,000 school children.

Inland Harvest, a nonprofit local group whose mission is to provide for the hungry, reached out to San Bernadino County districts to make available 18,000 pounds of high-quality fruits and vegetables that would typically go to restaurants that are currently shut-down.  CSD's Director of Child Nutrition and Purchasing, Jenny Huynh Lee, took this opportunity to include the produce in our Grab & Go meals, but knowing there was so much available, partnered with Hillside Church and Abundant Living Pantry to make this food available for local families to pick-up.  1,200 families benefited from the fresh pineapple, mangoes, honeydew melon, bananas, chili peppers, zucchini, brussel sprouts, mushrooms, onions, and celery in the delivery.

CSD is proud to help serve as food hub for the community and looks forward to continuing to serve the community through partnerships like these.
